These skins tend to be a little more stretchy than Ivory Coast skins, so make sure to tie them tightly to your ring to keep them from coming too far down the bowl. Once you've mastered that, they have excellent sound quality and resilience.
*** Ivory Coast goatskins *** These skins are guaranteed to give you at least a 22" round on them. They may have holes, cuts or flaws which we will mark with a sharpie marker, however they will have an obvious space to cut a 22" or larger circle with the centered spine and no marks in your circle. If you choose to use an area with a mark in it, you are on your own without guarantee.

20" Hairless Goatskin Rounds from Pakistan
These natural goatskin rounds are $19.00 each. Our new stock are processed using black salt and we no longer carry hides processed with dehydrated lime. The Thinner ones are great for Banjos and Dumbeks, etc. The Medium thick ones work well for smaller Djembes, Dumbeks, Talking Drums, etc. Note: There are at least 6 premier builders using these on fullsize djembes, so although we will always error on the side of caution for our customers, we are forced to admit these new skins are much better and seem to work for larger djembes as well. Please let us know what these goatskins are being used for. It will help us determine the best thickness for your project.

Note: Many of these rounds have translucent areas, this is normal, once the skins are soaked and stretched these areas are just as white as the rest of the skin.
Djembe Heads from South America - Cowhide

These skins are now on a call to order basis, those of you who have used them with great results already, please feel free to either email your order or give us a call. Apparently these yearling skins can't take being tightened rope breaking tight wet like the cow belly can, and several folks have found out they don't take that kind of tension while wet. We are comparing notes currently to see if this is the only issue, so until we have definitive answers we can not guarantee these hides for this reason.

Conga Heads from South America - Cowhide
These cowhide rounds are cut from hairless cow hides that comes from South America. We will cut these to your specs or you can purchase these pre-cut rounds. These are rounds only. Current Hides are approx. 1.5mm~2 mm thickness and a few thicker ones. If you need a specific thickness, please email us at [email protected] with your desired thickness.

These cowhide rounds are cut in the Ivory Coast and are used for Djembes, Comparable to perhaps a thick calf skin. We recommend ordering a round at least 6" larger than the Diameter of your Drum's Head, or perhaps slightly less if you sew on your heads.

Our goatskins and cowhides come from West Africa, South America and Pakistan. The skins and hides from West Africa are from animals that are ranch raised and used for food. All are bug free and have passed veterinary, USDA and US Customs inspections. All full-sized haired goatskins are at least 22" wide and as long as the goat. Hairless African skins are at least 22" wide. Please let us know if you need a wider skin. There are no holes or scars in the working area. We inspect the skins carefully. Sizes, colors and thickness vary.
